MalleoLoc

Q. Will the plastic rub my foot?
A. The plastic is lined with foam for cushioning and comfort. It should not rub or irritate the skin.

Q. Can it be worn against the skin?
A. MalleoLoc can be worn against the skin or with socks, depending on your preference. Most people prefer wearing a sock under the orthosis.

Q. Will it fit in my shoe?
A. Yes, it is very streamlined and fits comfortably in casual and athletic shoes.

Q. Does MalleoLoc contain Latex?
A. No.

Q. Do they come in pairs?
A. MalleoLoc is sold as a single unit for either the right or left ankle. You can definitely buy one of each to make a pair.

Q. Are there replacement straps?
A. A replacement strap set including a liner is available for purchase. Please specify size and right or left version.

Q. How does it work?
A. MalleoLoc is a stabilizing support that counteracts ankle twisting without restricting movement. The stirrups fit in front of the ankle bone on the outside of the leg and behind the ankle bone on the inside to prevent the outward rolling of the ankle joint. The unique design does not put pressure on the ankle bones and leaves the front of the foot and heel free for natural stabilization.

Q. How do you put it on?
A. Detailed directions are included with every product.

Q. Can it be worn over an ankle sleeve?

A. Yes. An ankle sleeve, such as Bauerfeind's Compro Plus AB or Compro AB, will provide compression to decrease swelling and speed healing.

MalleoLoc Ankle Brace, July 7, 2011
By Cindy Lou(iowa City, Iowa)

Not sure I can even give this product a 1 star. Either this is not the right size or what. It is bent at such a bad angle that you can even get it on your ankle. Hard to figure out where the straps go. And I have not returned it because it did not have an easy way to do so. Very unhappy with the product. Would not recommend it to anyone.

Last year I sprained my right ankle and got the black one from the doctor. Since I sprained my left one, I knew this would speed the recovery

Great product, April 25, 2011
By Nirali(Raleigh, NC)

I have been using MalleoLoc for over four years after recovering from multiple talus bone fractures. I have subtalar joint arthritis and limited ankle flexion and extension. I wear it everyday at work (6-8 hrs), where I have to stand and walk a lot. It helps stabilize my ankle and decrease secondary problems with backache due to poor gait. I would certainly recommend it. I need to replace it every year, as the glue comes off and the straps come off.

Works For Dynamic Athletic Activities, April 20, 2011
By MT Cocktail(Sacramento, CA)

While playing roller derby, I broke and dislocated my ankle. The tendons are shot so I needed something that was really going to keep all the bones where they belong. This brace offers security while still allowing me all of the movement I need.

Softball Player, October 29, 2010
By Softball Player(New Jersey)

Used this product while playing several softball games with a sprained ankle. Switched to ASO strap brace which was more comfortable and supported the ankle better.

Daughter loves this brace for competitive volleyball, June 5, 2010
By Volleyball Mom(Colorado)

This is the most comfortable brace we have tried, and several of her team mates now use this, too. Other preventative braces were too bulky or much less comfortable. Worth a little more money -- a brace is only worth it if the girls actually like wearing them!

Stable support - would not fit in my athletic shoes!, May 31, 2010
By Nancy the tennis player(Scottsdale, AZ,)

Following surgery to repair a torn ligament and tendon, the orthopedic recommended this brace as something I could possibly wear when I went back to playing tennis. (It has been over a year since surgery). The fit was good enough, but it was too cumbersome to fit into my tennis shoes....or even my running shoes. I did not attempt to wear it. It was with regret that I had to return it, without even getting to try it.
